As it requires a guild and is in a mat format, does that mean you will gain/lose rating from doing these??

I believe making the ATS support a whole entirely new format was a huge ton of work, far greater than setting different requirements for them. And that changing the requirements wasn't considered at the time it was being implemented, so going back to that and reworking it is what would take too much resources now.

I dont hink Id agree... probably just linking the existing AT rules into the snowball arena skillset?? I think everthing is basically already there written, just linking.

What Im not sure of (maybe coz I havent read it if its available) is that if its an AT format, is it going to be every 8 hours like the normal ATs? Guess I'll find out soon enough

Well, that's a real shame. I was really looking forward to the Snowball ATS, and now I won't be participating since my guild reccently split up.

Really, this is just silly. Partcipation in a HOLIDAY themed event where you throw snowballs at other players should not be taken too seriously. Any raging responses are a bit unnecessary.

On the other hand... at the same time, A.net shouldn't have droped the ball on this. This had huge potential to be very popular and a lot of fun. Instead, 90% of the GW player base (ie, those who don't read the forums or the wikis) will probablly not even know about this feature's existance. All previous holiday events and quests were open to everybody (ie, even level 10s could partcipate in most of the holiday quests from the past). Nothing was ever hard or exclusive. It should be open to everybody in the spirit of the season.

And saying it would be too much work for programmers... eh, I'd rather have people do something well or not at all. Half-assing the job by not getting rid of those restrictions (which really, why should they be hard coded into the programming in the first place?) is kinda frustrating and unprofessional.

ah, oh well...my guild doesnt meet the requirements (and heck I am the only active one left....so).....but this may mean that the reg snow ball fights might be doable by us 'noobs' since the 'pros' will all be over in the ats.....

nice idea. thanks for the thought (its that that counts right?)

Why would the 14 day rule be implemented for snowball ATS? Maybe with a 2 week notice this would seem ok but I can't see why not having a 14 day account would be a problem for a snowball match. My guild just formed and not being able to play this as a guild is an upset to me. I see no reason for 14 day accounts for snowball ATS.

For everyone who is very sad they cant play: only 4 people need to be in the guild for 14 days so if you just joined a new guild you might still be able to play with them.

Not only will new guilds be left out of the snowball ATs, but I can see old guilds having members that would not be able to play either. Imagine how many pve guilds there are with max 100 members, of which most of the members will not be able to play because half the team needs to be 14 day members, and at least one has to be an officer.

It may be worth the effort to try to fix this limitation seeing as it'll be keeping Most of the gw community from experiencing this festive activity

Same here, I've only been in a new guild for a day now, after being guildless for over a year (the way I prefer to play now). I'm pretty stumped about hearing this, 'cause I was really looking forward to play this with a guild.

Nice fail Anet, you could atleast warned a little earlier than 1 day before the event.

Hmm.. why do I get this premonition that anet might extend this part of Wintersday for an extra week......

My accounts are primarily in my own solo guild, so no time to move out or move others in now... oh well, I'll find something to do ^.^

Hey just because you guys let rl or inactiveness interfere with your gaming doesn't mean Anet should change it for the rest of the folks. That being said, I've been in my guild for almost a year now and well idk if we'll do this seeing as not many people even like snowball. Weird pve farming types.

Like ATS is the only thing we'll be doing this Wintersday, if you can't pvp go farm and do quest...There's tons of work this holiday season.

a question about this tournament: will it have same rules as normal snowball arena, getting presents to your avatar or to eliminate enemy team?
